COVID-19 RESPONSE TO SHIFWANKULA HEALTH POST

The recent analysis of the COVID-19 Data shows an increase in the number of community infections. On the other hand, the number COVID-19 related deaths has increased and data showed that there is a high concentration of BIDs in the high density areas of Lusaka. "The community deaths are of great concern. These are individuals that have tested positive regardless of the immediate cause of death. Therefore, these deaths reflect not only the significant community transmission that we now have, but also poor and delayed access to our health facilities. This is in line with the basic principles of the Clinic Community Collaboration approach which at the center of our partnership.

Zambia has seen a steady increase in the number positive COVID-19 cases. KCIA in partnership with Paediatric Adolescent Treatment Africa (PATA) using the Clinic-Community Collaboration approach donated Face masks, Aprons, Hand sanitizers and Hand washing buckets to the Front-line Health care workers at Chazanga Health Centre. This was aimed at minimizing the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
On the other hand, provision of remote psycho-social services to HIV+ adolescents and young people has been embarked on. This is in order to ensure continuous mental health support which is not being provided on a face to face basis because of the long term supply of ARVs to stable clients.
